FREE Nature Valley Nut Clusters

Thanks to Southern Savers for the heads up on this great offer! I haven't had these yet, but I'm excited to try them - and since my little guy loves granola and honey roasted peanuts I'm hoping he'll like them too!

Click here to get your FREE bag!

Attention All Teachers!

This is a great deal for teachers so if you know one, please pass it along! The National Education Association and The Clorox Company are offering a FREE canister of Clorox Disinfecting Wipes to teachers nationwide. Starting September 2 through September 5 teachers can go here to get their FREE wipes before they're gone! I'd click early - these won't last!

1st Trip to Kmart and Publix this week

I began my trip to Super Kmart for Super Doubles a little frustrated since the first 3 or 4 things on my list were priced incorrectly or out of stock. Things began looking up as I noticed more and more things falling into my cart that would be FREE! Checking out was surprisingly pleasant since my cashier was so pleasant and quick. I did drag the poor hubs along to help with the 10 coupon limit and his cashier was also very friendly.

There are a few more things I'd like to pick up tomorrow since I'll be in the neighborhood. I want to buy a Nerf Gun (thinking ahead to Christmas here) since there are 2 $5 off Qs - one from Nerf and one from Kmart. Then I'll get the additional $25 worth of darts for free. Ever notice how those darts always get lost? So that will be $10 for $45 worth of Nerf products! Couldn't make this deal work today since there were little people with us!

Anyhow, I didn't get everything for free, but I did get GREAT deals!

1 Revlon Nail Clippers (FREE)
1 Rimmell Mascara (FREE)
1 Scotch Padded Envelope (FREE)
1 Pkg Carefree Feminie Products (FREE)

and our best deal of the day...
2 Frozen Pkg of TGIF Mozzarella Sticks (FREE)
1 Frozen Pkg of TGIF Potato Skins (FREE)

Publix trip was great, even though I didn't have too much to pick up. I had two transactions planned, but unfortunately they were sold out of what I wanted to purchase in my second transaction. I will make that trip tomorrow since free stuff is too good to pass up and it's right down the street, literally! Not too shabby though - especially for diapers! :o)

1 Big Box Huggies Diapers
3 Publix Cokes
6 Gerber babyfood
4 Hillshire Farms Deli Meat Tubs
4 pk Publix Greenwise TP (Publix Penny Item)

My thoughts on K-Mart

Ok. Honestly? I really don't care too much for K-Mart. Definitely not my favorite place to shop, and since it's not the closest store to us I hardly ever shop there. Customer service is touch and go at best.

BUT...

They are holding their last super-doubles event of the year starting tomorrow. I hadn't even planned on going. Harris Teeter is doing super doubles this week, and I was going to go last night until a massive monsoon hit Charleston preventing me from making the drive. (Ever been stuck downtown during flooding? Not gonna happen if I can help it!) So alas, I will venture to Super K-Mart to stock up on some things. There are lots of good deals and lots of FREE deals. I'll let you know how I did - until then, pull out your coupons and make your shopping list too! You can find match-ups here.

Your first stop to start SAVING a ton of money!

Welcome to the beginning of a whole new way of thinking about money, budgets, and shopping.

By using resources available, you can easily cut your grocery budget in HALF! Many people say "I don't have the time for that" but honestly, who doesn't have an extra half-hour to make money for their family? Yes, I said MAKE money for your family! Let me break this down for you...

"The Old Way of Grocery Shopping"
Walking over to your pantry and fridge, making the list of things your family needs this week. Maybe you clip a coupon or two. Then you head to the grocery store, dreading that last moment when the cashier says "Your total is $xxx.xx" And let's not forget trips to Walmart and Sams. Ouch!

"The New Way to Grocery Shop"
Every Sunday, you buy (get from family or neighbors) two newspapers for the coupons. I can't stress this step enough.  Even if you are just starting out, this will be your first step getting the savings you are looking for.  Mark the date on the front of each insert (Red Plum/Smart Source) and you stick it in a file folder/file box.

Now it's time for your weekly shopping trip.  Visit sites (like Palmetto State Saver) that cover the stores where you shop.  I will post the lowest rock bottom prices for Bi-Lo and Publix weekly, and Food Lion occasionally.  If you are looking for other grocery stores, there are some great places to get match-ups for the sales ad and coupons.  Shoppers in the southeast can check out Southern Savers here , and Coupon Mom has nationwide stores listed here.

Here is where you'll have two choices.

Choice #1 is to buy when you need to buy. This is when the grocery store gets to choose how much you spend on your purchases. (Going to the pantry/fridge and making your list of what you need.)

Choice #2 is to buy when things are at rock bottom price (usually every six weeks) and using your coupons. You buy enough at this price to supply your family until the next time it goes on sale. This way YOU get to choose how much you are going to pay. After all, it's YOUR money right?

Now I know it seems overwhelming to think about buying six weeks worth of something, right? But look at it this way.

1 box of cereal at the grocery store's price is $4.00 on average.
$4.00
x 6 wks
______
$24.00

BUT

1 box of cereal at ROCK BOTTOM SALE PRICE w/ COUPON is $1.00.
$1.00
x 6 wks
_______
$6.00

Which price would you rather pay? That is a savings of $18.00!

Now think about how many other products you use every day or every week and how much you can save.
This is when I had my **LIGHTBULB MOMENT**!

Look here to see a great list of what you could be paying for your groceries! Make sure you are sitting down - the first time I saw this list I was blown away!

First trip to Walgreens

I don't go to Walgreens often, mostly because there isn't one really close - BUT - We almost ran out of coffee this week. OMG! I've been doing some extreme couponing for a couple of weeks now and have a great stockpile in the freezer and pantry, but coffee just hasn't really been on sale. Being without coffee at my house is simply not an option. Just so happens it was on sale!

BOUGHT:
$3.99 Softsoap NutriSerum Bodywash (original price $4.99)
-$2.00 coupon
Paid 2.31 OOP (out of pocket)
Got $4 Register Rewards (good for my next purchase at Walgreens)
***This means I made money***

Next transaction
$12.49 Maxwell House Coffee
-$6.00 Walgreens Coupon
-$4.00 Register Reward
Paid $2.62

Don't think I'll be a regular at Walgreens, but this trip was worth it!

About Me

Hey ya'll! I'm a work at home mom with a wonderful husband, a fantastic nine year old boy and sweet little six month old daughter! After sending emails and making phone calls convincing my friends and family that they are throwing money down the drain, I decided to post all of my savings somewhere for all to see! Enjoy!!
