Bi-Lo Bargain Meal of the Week - Slow Cooker Pork Chops With Apples

Slow Cooker Pork Chops with Apples

Now that school is back in session, more and more of our meals are made in the slow cooker.  When you know what's for dinner ahead of time, there's no scrambling at the last minute to get something on the table!  I especially love slow cooker meals when all you have to do is dump everything in and let it go.  Add some sides and dinner is served!

What You'll Need:
1 lb Pork Loin Chops
Pork Loin Chops - $1.79/lb

1-2 Apples
NC Apples - 99¢/lb

1 Medium Onion
3lb bag Yellow Onions - $2.50
(approximately 20¢ each)

1 Cup Rice
Mahatma Brown Rice - $1.99
USE $1 OFF from RP 8/29
MAKES IT 99¢
(1 cup is approximately 20¢)

From The Pantry or Fridge:
Salt & Pepper
1 Tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
1 -2 Tablespoons Water
2-3 Tablespoons Sugar
Cinnamon

*TIP:Spray your slow cooker with no-stick spray.  I've started doing this with all of my slow cooker recipes, it really makes clean up so much easier!*

Salt & Pepper the pork chops and place them on the bottom of slow cooker.  Cover them with onions and apples.  Sprinkle everything with sugar and just a tiny bit of cinnamon.  Add the apple cider vinegar and water.  Set the slow cooker on low for eight hours and dinner is done!  Serve over rice.  (My son loves the pork chops but isn't a big fan of the apples and onions - but my husband likes it all! I usually end up making a few sides for this one, but if your family likes the onions and apples then you really don't need too much more!)

EASY SIDES TO CHOOSE FROM:
PictSweet Vegetables - $1.22
2lb Baby Cut Carrots - $1.74
Broccoli Crowns - $1.79/lb

TOTAL MEAL COST:  ONLY $3.18!
(plus sides)
