Seems like Murphy's is handing out coupons more and more! This coupon is only good through tomorrow (5/31). Regular gas at the Murphy USA station closest to our house was $2.43/gallon - definitely not a bad price for Memorial Day weekend.
**Note - the last time some people were having trouble getting the $3 OFF coupon. If you're just signing up for the newsletter, you may have to try twice to get it. For three bucks off of gas,

**Many of these have also been loaded onto Coupons.com today, too - but some of the values are different (on coupons.com the Totinos coupon is 60¢/3). Should you go buy the paper? It really depends on the products you're looking to buy and how high your store will double. My Publix won't double the 60¢ coupon - so the coupon in today's insert would be a higher value for me (doubled to $1/3). The insert coupons also have a longer expiration date, so if you buy these products, it may not hurt to grab a paper just in case!**
The Fiber One coupons match up nicely with the Target Ad today -
If you're not in the mood to grill - or the weather just isn't cooperating, why not order some Papa John's Pizza tomorrow? You can use the code customer50 to get 50% OFF any order of $20 or more! See details here and find a location near you here . Remember to always call ahead to make sure they're participating!
We will be going to the lake for a week to take some time off and spend time with our family soon. I can't wait for the kids to get to swim and play with their cousins, and our son is really looking forward to hydro-sliding again this year (he just learned how last summer)! I have been picking up things here and there, our shopping list is really coming together now though so I can be planning more as things go on sale. On top of our normal shopping I'll be shopping for around 20 people so I have to be smart about our spending!
Here's what I picked up this week at Publix:
2 Cottonelle Tissue Paper
3 Dr. Pepper 12-packs
4 Dixie Paper Plates
3 Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce
2 Knorr's Sides
TOTAL SPENT: $8.65
TOTAL SAVED: $40.86
Man, now I'm really starting to get excited about vacation! Woo Hoo!
How did you do this week? Please leave me a comment and let me know!
Local readers - Remember to take advantage of the Piccolo Spoleto Arts Festival kicking off today and running through June 13th in Charleston. There are some FREE events (many that are kid friendly), so check the calendar of events here!
My June issue of Parent's magazine has an advertisement for Buzz Away Natural Insect Repellent. It says that you can call 1-800-448-1448 to request a FREE sample! This stuff is the leading natural mosquito repellent - so I'm anxious to try it out. (Hello! We live in SC where the state bird might as well be the mosquito!)
As far as I know, there will be no coupon inserts this weekend! I have been hearing some rumors of a small General Mills insert in some areas, but can't find any confirmation of where it will be (I'll check Sunday morning, and let you know if I see anything!). So take the weekend off and get rid of all of your expired coupons! Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone!
SWAGBUCKS is a search engine you can use to earn FREE stuff and CASH! That's right - you can turn those SWAGBUCKS into cash, send them right into your paypal account! It's so simple, a no-brainer really. Use SWAGBUCKS as your search engine, and you begin earning (doing something you already do anyway). I can't begin to tell you how much I have saved by turning my SWAGBUCKS into Amazon giftcards! No more paying for magazines! Swagbucks can pay for Christmas gifts too - just search like normal, and watch them add up.
Well, most days you earn TEN or TWENTY SWAGBUCKS - but Fridays are MEGA SWAGBUCK DAY! You can win up to 5000 SWAGBUCKS! Sign up here to get started with 30 FREE Swagbucks!!
Father's Day is coming - and this looks like a super cute (and cheap) gift for your kiddos to give their Dad! You can go right here and make your FREE Photo Magnet ($3.99 value) and you only pay $1 shipping. Use the code FREEMAGNET at checkout.
One question I get about couponing is about making actual meals. Sure I get cereal and frozen pizzas on sale for cheap - but can I actually take my savings from the grocery store to the dinner table? Well the answer is ABSOLUTELY! I am by no means a gourmet chef, but I'm definitely a "foodie"! I'm a total sucker for cookbooks and new recipes, and I'm grateful I have some very willing family members who will taste-test almost everything I try!
I'm excited to share one of my favorite sites with y'all, and bring a new feature to you every week! I love 5DollarDinners.com - I confess! Erin Chase, author of The $5 Dollar Dinner Mom Cookbook, has been my hero on many nights when I didn't plan ahead and needed inspiration at the last minute (I know I can't be the only Mom out there who's had a night like that, right?). Her recipes are quick and easy, and definitely budget friendly! Check out her site right here.
Working with Erin, I'll be bringing you a budget-friendly recipe that matches up with what is on sale at Bi-Lo. I want all of my readers to know that you can make delicious food for your family that's quick, fresh, easy and won't break the bank!
With all of that being said, my menu this week is for a very budget friendly meal that just so happens to coincide with Memorial Day Weekend. I know many of you will be firing up the grill which happens to be one of my very favorite cooking methods! Our family really enjoys being outdoors, and clean-up is always a cinch! My game plan for grilling will usually consist of most of the prep work being done early in the day, so that I can enjoy my family while
my husband actually does the grilling!
Happy Memorial Day - Enjoy!

1 can Patterson's Hot Dog Chili - 99¢
USE 40¢ OFF from SS 5/9 to get it for 19¢
1 pkg Southern Home American Cheese Slices - You'll only need 4 pieces, and a 16 count package is $1.16 at my store. This is always something we stock up on when it's on sale though - so you may not even need to buy any! Getting technical, it works out to be 29¢ for 4 pieces! **All sale prices reflect the ad running from 5/25 - 6/1. You can see the entire ad here.**
TOTAL COST: $4.52
From Your Pantry or Fridge:
Combine 1 lb of ground beef with a generous amount of the Hamburger grill seasoning and 1 egg. Form into 4 burgers. Cook your burgers on the grill until done, melting 1 slice of cheese on top during the last minute of cooking. Remember, only flip the burgers once to keep them juicy!
Top with warm hot dog chili. These are super messy, but delicious!
Fresh Grilled Corn on the Cob
Soak the corn (husks on) in water for 30 minutes before grilling to prevent them from burning. Dry them off then gently peel the husks back, but do not remove completely. Smear butter on each ear of corn, and sprinkle with salt and pepper (add a little chili powder if you like spice!). Pull the husks back up and wrap in aluminum foil. Place them on a hot grill and turn occasionally - they'll be done in around 30 minutes so you'll want to start them just before you but the burgers on! Make them ahead of time, so you won't be stuck fussing in the kitchen at the last minute!
This is my version of cole slaw. Bless my Granny's heart, she made slaw with cabbage, Miracle Whip, salt and pepper. Believe it or not, I do like it that way - but probably only because I grew up eating it! I have since seen the light, and after fooling around with this dressing recipe, I've decided it tastes much better. Use more or less dressing based on how your family likes it.
1/2 cup mayo
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons white vinegar
2 tbsp lemon juice
salt & pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients and blend with bagged cole slaw mix. This is much better when it's made the day before (or several hours) and has time to marinate in the fridge until serving time! I usually make the dressing and then pour it all into a gallon zip-lock bag so it can sit overnight. Since this is such a favorite, I do usually end up making a double batch. The leftovers are super good! It's one of those dishes that is even better the longer it sits.
Wow there are a ton of great deals this week! Here are my favorites. I'm going to work up a scenario this afternoon when my little ones are napping for the Kraft Rebate since there are so many Kraft deals (especially if your store considers Target a competitor!). Until then, start clipping those coupons - there are lots of deals to be had!
**Remember, Publix will double all manufacturer's coupons up to 50¢ in face value. You don't need to buy both items to get the BOGO price, but if you do - be sure to use two coupons to get the best deal. Publix also accepts competitor's coupons to stack with store coupons or manufacturer's coupons (some even accept drugstore coupons as competitors - think $5/$25 from Rite Aid). Check with your local store to determine which stores
they consider competitors.**
