Let's face it, our kids aren't growing up in the same day and age that we are. I can't tell you how many times our son has come home from school saying that so-and-so saw this movie and he wants to see it - or a friend got that video game, and he wants it too! My husband and I try to be as careful as possible with what he's exposed to. There are so many movies, websites, and video games out there that really aren't appropriate for him - even if he knows kids that have been. As a matter of fact, he just watched a movie last night that he's been asking to see since it came out in theaters, but we didn't think he was quite mature enough to watch it then.
Then, I heard about Common Sense Media...Common Sense Media is a FREE website that provides reviews for books, tv shows, movies, video games, websites, and even music. You'll get reviews on everything from Eminem to Justin Bieber to Diary of a Wimpy Kid - even YouTube videos! There are great options to filter by age, too! Not only to you get the review straight from Common Sense Media - other parents can chime in (so can you).
Now if there's a movie that comes out that I'm not so sure about, or if I hear my son singing the lyrics to a song that I've never heard - I know I can check them out here. And seriously? Being a mom is tough enough! It's nice to have someone else help out with my own homework every once in a while!
Sign up today with Commen Sense (it's FREE!) and you'll get easy access to age-appropriate picks for your kids, and a weekly email alert with the latest reviews. They're also offering a sign-up bonus - you'll get a one week FREE trial on Disney Digital Books with no obligations!
That is a neat idea for a website!
