Great News and a Great Coupon from General Mills!

General Mills announced this week that they are reducing sugar in kids cereals! This is great news for those of us with kids (and husbands) like mine who love cereal. It's definitely not just for breakfast at our house. You can read more about the benefits of cereal here.

Along with this great news, they are sharing a $1 OFF coupon here (IE) or here (FF) for Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms, or Trix!

Use your coupon this week at Publix to get Cocoa Puffs or Trix for only 74¢ a box!

Thanks to MyBlogSpark and General Mills for this information and coupon!

This Week's Shopping Trip to Publix

This trip was so much fun! I sat down with a good friend of mine and planned my shopping trip out then took her with me. After lots of jokes about my coupon box - she said I was obsessed - we made our way through the store.

Here was my first transaction:

1 gallon milk

1 Nestle Good Start ($22.49)

2 Hot Wheels Cars

1 Publix Bleach

TOTAL SPENT: $20.06

TOTAL SAVED: $11.66

Now, this good friend of mine doesn't have any children, so I honestly don't think she realized how expensive formula is! Her response was pretty much "Oh, okay. I guess that's good, right?" Time for the second transaction!

2 Kim & Scott Pretzels

2 4pks Smuckers Uncrustables

1 8pk Little Debbie Cupcakes

1 lb bacon

1 Hot Wheels

3 BumbleBee Tuna Pouches

1 Benevia Juice

6 Beechnut Babyfood

2 Muir Glen Tomato Paste

1 International Delight Creamer

1 Softsoap Handsoap

1 Publix Hamburger Buns

4 Nestle Toll House Cookie Dough

TOTAL SPENT: $3.64

TOTAL SAVED: $56.36

My friend nearly fell out on the floor - and said she was going to frame my receipt! I hope I was able to teach her a thing or two about couponing, and I think she learned why I am so "obsessed!" I got a huge kick out of it - even more so since this wasn't my best trip ever!

Our pantry and freezer are both packed to the max right now - we didn't really need anything but milk. We did make a quick run to BiLo to use rainchecks for dog food. I can't find the receipt, but I know we spent around $50 and saved around $40 - I'm so glad to be stocked on dog food for a while!

It was a good week - I just wish I could get my Christmas shopping knocked out like I do groceries! I am always done with shopping and wrapping by now - ahhh! Amazon, here I come!

Happy Shopping!

Diapers and a Lesson at Food Lion

We are by no means were out of diapers, but I haven't bought any in a few weeks so I knew when I saw they were on sale at Food Lion we'd have to pick some up (You know, stocking up only when they are on sale). Here's what I got and the lesson I learned:

1st Transaction:

1 pk Huggies Diapers

Total Spent: $3.93

Total Saved: $3.50

2nd Transaction:

1 pk Huggies Diapers

1 pk of Mentos candy

Total Spent: $4.63

Total Saved: $3.50

I like Mentos, really I do, especially the strawberry ones - but that was not something I had planned on buying. The cashier told me that I would not be able to complete two transactions back to back totaling the same amount. WHAT? I had to buy candy to make my second total different than the first (there were only about 50 people in line behind me, or I would have gone and at least picked up something we might need). I think that's a total crock. Yes, it was only a 69¢ pack of candy. But why must I spend more money to be able to spend money? Has anyone else had this problem at Food Lion? Oh well, lesson learned! And a pack of diapers under 5 bucks is good for me!

FREE $10 Macy's Giftcard for Virginia!

MACY'S NATIONAL BELIEVE DAY

DECEMBER 11, 2009

"Yes, VIRGINIA, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no Santa Claus."

I love this cute idea, even though I'm not a Virginia!

Tomorrow December 11, 2009 you can go to your local Macy's

and get a $10 gift card if your first or last name is Virginia!

This is from 10am-6pm, so I'd go early - I bet there are

more people named Virginia than you think!

Get all the details on this offer right here.
